Built on the Rock Summer Program Rocked the House

Built on the Rock Summer Program Rocked the House

What a great summer Kids First had with our Built on the Rock Program! We began summer early by filling in for Pastor Carol Strangway at New Covenant Worship Center in Athens for six weeks in May and June. Pastor Carol was visiting her daughter and granddaughter-to-be in Korea, and Kids First was off to the races. We had an awesome time at New Covenant, but that was just the first of several stops for the summer.

June 14th -18th we traveled just south of Athens to the town of Union Point to lead a Community-wide Vacation Bible School. Baptists, Methodists, Presbyterians and Pentecostal Holiness’ joined together for this event. It was such a blessing to see the community coming together for the sake of its children. There were 80 children in attendance and on the second night over 25 kids prayed to receive Christ as their Savior. They confirmed their salvation the next night by standing before the entire congregation, and signing a commitment card to be baptized. This was such a God-ordained moment for all those present. We give all praise to God, but also we’re quick to acknowledge the many prayers of the pastors and leaders of this event.

July brought us to New Hope Worship Center in Danielsville. It was an honor for us to partner with this church to reach the children in their community. Each night the church provided a delicious meal for the children and went out of their way to make them feel welcome. Also in July we went back to New Covenant for special services. As always, it was such a joy to see the Holy Spirit at work in the lives of the children in these services.

The summer ended with the Kids First team filling in for Pastor Kristin Crawford at Church of the Nations in Athens. We have had the opportunity to work with the children at Church of the Nations on several occasions and it is always encouraging to see the solid foundation these kids have in place. Special thanks to Pastor Kristin and Mr. Dave who work so hard each week to disciple these children.

Kids First is still available throughout the Fall to meet the needs of your church for special services or just to give your children’s church leader a break. Please contact us at larry@kidsfirstfamily.com for more information.

Kids First Union Point Begins

Kids First Union Point Begins

Following the great success of the Union Point Vacation Bible School the pastors and leaders of the Union Point churches felt the community kids program should continue on a regular basis. Over the past two months meetings have been held and prayers have been lifted to God and plans have been laid to continue to reach the children of Union Point with a community effort. Once again we believe God is leading us to this point, and are excited to announce the kick-off to this program on Sunday, September 13th at 4:00p.m.

The program will be held at the Union Point Community Center (just behind the First Baptist Church). Our kick-off program will include great music, great games, God’s Extremely Great Word, and pizza!!! The Community Center is in a central location, and is accessible to many children within walking distance. If you live in the Union Point area and are receiving this newsletter please forward this information to friends who may not have heard about it yet. We believe Kids First will become the place to be on Sunday afternoons in Union Point.

Can I Help?

Can I Help?

YES! Thank you for asking. There are several ways you can help Kids First reach children in Athens and now in Union Point. First, and more than any other need, we need your prayers. Kids First is totally dependent on God for everything we do. Apart from Him, we can do nothing. So, we ask you to please add us to your prayer list.  Would you like to do more? Why not join us on Friday afternoons in Nellie B.? Each Friday afternoon at 4:30 we minister to children in the Nellie B. Housing Complex in east Athens. We need workers to assist with sign-up, snack time, and especially hugging kids. Please pray and ask God if He would have you serve in this way; especially if you have time available on Friday afternoon. For more information please contact me at larry@kidsfirstfamily.com.

Quite possibly you may be blessed with the ability to help us financially.  The programs, both in Athens and Union Point, require funding to keep them going. From food, to meeting space, lesson preparation needs; there are many costs involved in providing this weekly program, and we depend on God to meet this need through his people. We would be honored to gain your partnership with us in reaching the children of Athens and Union Point. I would love to meet with you personally to explain our ministry and need to you on a greater level. Thank you in advance seeking the Lord in this regard. Please contact me by using the information above or by calling Larry Boling at (706)255-9091.
